The Museum Ship Sigyn Foundation

A foundation was established in 1993 for the administration and use of the Sigyn, Finland’s first museum ship. The objective of the foundation is to own, conserve, maintain and preserve the museum ship Sigyn as a ship and a historical museum in Turku.

The Board runs and represents the foundation. The Board consists of nine members, each of which has a personal stand-in. The City of Turku appoints six of the board members and six stand-in members, of which one member and stand-in represent the Turku Provincial Museum. The Åbo Akademi University Endowment, the Maritime Administration and the National Board of Antiquities each appoint one member and one stand-in. The term of the board members is two calendar years.

The foundations have entered a separate agreement on their practical mutual administration within the Forum Marinum Maritime Centre.
